FAQ
Questions merchants ask before they go live
Setup, billing, checkout behavior, and data handling — in one place.
What does AddressVerify do?
It validates shipping addresses during Shopify checkout and again after the order is placed. It can suggest a correction, tag the order, hold fulfillment, or update the address when your rules allow it.
Will it slow down or block checkout if a provider is down?
No, unless you turn on Fail closed. AddressVerify fails over to your fallback provider, then the built-in engine.
How is billing calculated?
Your per-order rate depends on store volume: $0.40 (1–500), $0.30 (501–1,500), or $0.20 (1,501+). Shopify charges once per unique order. Checkout and post-checkout on the same order are one charge. Admin Test Address runs and provider outages are not billed. There is no mandatory monthly subscription.
What is Lite vs Full validation?
Lite checks house numbers, PO Boxes, and special characters. Full adds street, city, postal, typos, incomplete addresses, and suggestions.
Do I need theme code?
No. Add the AddressVerify block on Thank You, Order Status, and optionally Checkout in the Shopify checkout editor, then save in the app.
Why was an order tagged but checkout was not blocked?
Warn, Review, and Allow let checkout continue. Post-checkout validation can still tag, hold, or auto-fix.
Are tags duplicated on every run?
No. AddressVerify removes the address tags it manages, then writes the current set.
Does AddressVerify store customer emails and phone numbers?
The merchant dashboard does not show emails or phone numbers. Customer identifiers used for logs are hashed. See the privacy policy for details.
Can I use my own address API?
Yes. Point AddressVerify at Google, Loqate, Smarty, or a custom HTTP provider, and set a failover.
How do I get help?
Email support@addressverify.app with the shop domain, order name, and the validation log time. Do not send customer emails or phones unless they are required to reproduce the issue.
